Overview
Counter Weighted ("the App") is developed and operated by Digital Lighting Solutions ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version: Counter Weighted is designed to work primarily on-device. We do not operate analytics services, advertising networks, or tracking infrastructure. Your rig calculations and fixture data stay on your device and in your personal iCloud account.

What we do not collect
We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or location. We do not use analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, advertising identifiers, or any form of user tracking. We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or photo library.
How we use your data
All data collected is used solely to provide and improve the core functionality of the App:
- Saved rig calculations are stored so you can recall them later and sync them across your devices via iCloud.
- Fixture data is cached on-device so you can work offline without re-fetching weights.
- GDTF Share credentials (if provided) are used only to authenticate with the GDTF Share API on your behalf. They are never transmitted to any other server.
- Your unit preference and default settings are stored locally to personalise your experience.
We do not sell, share, rent, or trade your data with any third party for marketing, advertising, or any other purpose.
Third-party services
Apple (iCloud & StoreKit)
The App uses Apple's iCloud (via CloudKit) to sync your saved lines across devices signed into the same Apple ID. Subscription purchases and verification are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit 2. Apple's privacy policy governs how they handle this data: apple.com/legal/privacy.
GDTF Share (optional)
If you choose to sign in, the App communicates with the GDTF Share API (gdtf-share.com) to search and download fixture data. Your GDTF Share username and password are sent directly to their servers for authentication. We do not intercept, store on our servers, or relay these credentials through any intermediary. GDTF Share is operated by the GDTF Group; their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
No other third parties
The App does not integrate any analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or social media SDKs. There are no other third-party services involved.
Data storage & iCloud sync
All app data is stored on your device using Core Data. If you are signed into iCloud, saved rig calculations are also synced to your private iCloud container using Apple's NSPersistentCloudKitContainer. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple and is accessible only to devices signed into your Apple ID.
Fixture cache data and app preferences are stored only on the local device and are not synced to iCloud.
You can delete all synced data by deleting the app from all your devices or by managing your iCloud storage in iOS Settings.
Data retention
Since we do not operate any servers that store your data, there is no data on our end to retain or delete. All your data lives on your device and in your personal iCloud account. Uninstalling the app removes all local data. iCloud data can be managed through your iOS Settings.
Your rights
Because your data is stored on-device and in your personal iCloud account, you have full control at all times. You can:
- Delete individual saved lines from within the App.
- Clear your fixture cache by deleting and reinstalling the App.
- Remove GDTF Share credentials from Settings within the App.
- Delete all iCloud-synced data via iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.
- Delete the App entirely to remove all local data.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with applicable data protection laws, you retain all rights afforded to you under those laws. If you have questions about exercising your rights, please contact us.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect personal information from any user, this concern is inherently addressed by our data practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
